Going Green...Why becoming Eco-Friendly is Vital for the Human Race.

At this point in human civilization, the beginning of the new millennium is one of mass historical importance. The Renaissance, the industrial revolution, and the scientific/computer revolution were all just stepping stones leading to this precipice. Something that must be understood is that destroying the earth is just a symptom of us destroying ourselves. War; poisoning our air, our land and our water, it's a mass sickness of the mind caused by greed and ignorance. You and I, right now at this very moment, sit on the verge of the end of life as we know it. If the rate of pollution, consumption, and population increase continue this will be no world for future generations to live in, and I believe at that point not even science will be able to save us from a massive falloff in population or even extinction.

So what do we do? First off the mindset of the human population must shift from "what's easiest" and most profitable, to one of sustainability and compassion. Many have not only realized the necessity of becoming environmentally conscious individuals, but also the need to spread this knowledge. We need to get back to basics. Instilling these values into our children is vital. Not just by preaching, but by our actions. We must love this planet and treat it as we would our most cherished loved one. We must not be so wasteful, so hateful, so quick to judge, and so quick to step on someone to get a better view. It's no surprise that we treat our earth the way we treat each other...it's just who we've become as a race. Let's change this sickening downward spiral. It starts with you. Start recycling, start wearing sustainable clothing, buying organic products, and building with eco-friendly materials etc..

Going green is more than just a phrase; it is the most important revolution in the history of human kind. We must completely change the regulations and standards in all of our industries, from farming to scientific progress. Everyone must now be held accountable for their impact on the environment. There can be no more sweeping these problems under the rug. Love your fellow man, animal, tree, pond, and rock. They are yours, as they are mine, as they are natures. Nurture them. Nurture your young and live right. Be healthy, happy, righteous, and proud. Know who you are and hold steadfast in that. If you do these things and share with others that same strength, our future generations will have a chance to enjoy this beautiful planet called earth and this amazing experience called life. Peace be with you.

Great post. As you suggest, somewhere along the line, we lost our way. We moved from long lasting and practical to trendy and throw away. It's a change in philosophy that was actively cultivated by big corporations to keep us buying. It's an unsustainable treadmill...
